Surge arresters
Surge protection devices (SPDs) are one of the most important safety features in solar and electrical systems. Their job is to protect the inverter, battery and the entire electrical network from sudden voltage spikes in the event of lightning or grid surges. Surge protection devices safely conduct excess energy to ground, preventing equipment failure and possible fires.
Modern surge protection works on several levels: DC-side arresters protect the solar panels and the inverter input, while AC-side devices protect the household electrical network. Most models are available in 1-, 2- or 3-pole versions and are compatible with both single- and three-phase systems. The use of quality surge protectors is not only recommended, but in many cases a requirement for a safe solar installation.
