Product description
Huawei SUN2000-M5 series modern three-phase on-grid inverters are designed for medium-sized residential and commercial systems. Available power variants:
- SUN2000-12KTL-M5 – 12kW
- SUN2000-15KTL-M5 – 15kW
- SUN2000-17KTL-M5 – 17kW
- SUN2000-20KTL-M5 – 20kW
- SUN2000-25KTL-M5 – 25kW
The devices have two MPP trackers and four inputs, allowing flexible string configurations for roofs with different orientations or shaded areas. The maximum efficiency for all models is 98.4%, with European efficiency of 97.9–98.2%.
The inverters are compatible with Huawei optimizers (SUN2000-450W-P, 600W-P, 1100W-P, 1300W-P), which enable up to 30% more energy production and support the Rapid Shutdown (RSD) safety function. They can also operate without an optimizer, making them flexible for any system.
Safety features include arc fault protection (AFCI), residual current monitoring, string fault monitoring, and type II overvoltage protection on the AC and DC sides. The integrated PID recovery function helps maintain module performance, especially during long operating times.
The inverters are IP66 rated, operate in a temperature range of -25°C to +60°C and can be installed at altitudes of up to 4000 m. Cooling is provided by Smart Air Cooling, a fanless design.
Their communication options include built-in WLAN and FusionSolar App connection, RS485, as well as Ethernet and 4G via an optional dongle.

How do I choose the right inverter?
How do I choose the right inverter?
When choosing an inverter, it is worth considering the power of the solar panels, their voltage range, the number of phases in the system (single- or three-phase), and whether you plan to expand with batteries in the future.
In the case of three-phase systems, a distinction must be made between symmetrical and asymmetrical inverters. The symmetrical type distributes the power equally across all three phases, which is an advantageous solution for simpler networks. The asymmetrical inverter, on the other hand, can regulate the power differently per phase, thus adapting more flexibly to the real consumption pattern of the house - for this reason it is usually the more practical and efficient choice for domestic systems.
When is it worth choosing a hybrid inverter?
When is it worth choosing a hybrid inverter?
It is worth choosing a hybrid inverter if you want to expand the system with battery energy storage in the future or if you want to provide the house with protection against power outages.
Hybrid models are more expensive, but offer a more flexible solution in the long term, as they can be easily integrated into the existing system later.
What happens in the event of a power outage?
What happens in the event of a power outage?
During a power outage, traditional grid-fed inverters automatically shut down to prevent power from being fed back into the utility grid for safety reasons.
Hybrid inverters, on the other hand, can operate in stand-alone, so-called backup mode, if a battery is also connected to the system. In this case, the inverter disconnects itself from the grid and uses the energy stored in the battery to continue supplying designated consumers in the house, such as lighting, a refrigerator or a router. As soon as the grid voltage returns, the inverter automatically returns to normal operation and begins recharging the battery.
What warranty does the inverter have?
What warranty does the inverter have?
The warranty is typically 5-10 years, depending on the manufacturer and model. Some manufacturers also offer extended warranties with registration. The exact duration is listed on each product page, so it's worth checking before purchasing.
What happens if the inverter fails?
What happens if the inverter fails?
As a first step, it is always recommended to diagnose the fault, because often the problem is not related to the inverter, but to the settings or the communication module.
If there is an actual failure, the distributor or manufacturer's service partner will assist with the repair or replacement process, within or beyond warranty.
