Product description
The Huawei SUN2000-L1 series is specifically designed for the needs of single-family homes and smaller single-phase systems. The available models are:
- SUN2000-2KTL-L1 – 2kW
- SUN2000-4KTL-L1 – 4kW
- SUN2000-5KTL-L1 – 5kW
- SUN2000-6KTL-L1 – 6kW
The L1 series is a hybrid design, meaning that in addition to solar panels, a battery can also be connected to it. It is fully compatible with Huawei LUNA2000 smart batteries (5-30 kWh capacity, 350-560 Vdc), which expand the system with a simple plug & play connection. The battery not only stores solar energy, but the device can also charge it from the grid, for example with a night-time discount electricity tariff.
The inverter has two MPP trackers, with a range of 90–560 V, which makes the system design flexible. In the case of shaded or differently oriented roofs, the use of Huawei optimizers (SUN2000-450W-P2, 600W-P) is particularly beneficial, as they provide up to 30% more energy and also enable the Rapid Shutdown (RSD) safety function.
In the event of a power outage, the series can supply important consumers in the house with the Backup Box-B0 accessory, with a switching time of ≤20 ms. This ensures virtually uninterrupted operation, so that, for example, a refrigerator, router or security system remains powered continuously.
Safety features include arc fault protection (AFCI), AC/DC overvoltage protection (Type II), residual current monitoring, short-circuit and overcurrent protection, and insulation monitoring.
The maximum efficiency is 98.2–98.4% depending on the type, and the European efficiency is 96.7–97.8%. The devices are cooled by natural convection, without a fan, and their noise level is low (<29 dB), so they can be used both indoors and outdoors (IP65 protection).
Main features in brief:
- Single-phase hybrid inverters, 2–6 kW power range
- Compatible with Huawei LUNA2000 batteries (5-30 kWh)
- 2 MPP trackers, 90–560 V operating range
- Efficiency: max. 98.4%, European efficiency: 96.7–97.8%
- Optimizer compatibility, up to +30% energy production
- Backup Box-B0 support, ≤20 ms switching time
- Safety: AFCI, AC/DC SPD, residual current monitoring
- Natural cooling, IP65 protection, low noise level
- WLAN integration and FusionSolar monitoring support

How do I choose the right inverter?
How do I choose the right inverter?
When choosing an inverter, it is worth considering the power of the solar panels, their voltage range, the number of phases in the system (single- or three-phase), and whether you plan to expand with batteries in the future.
In the case of three-phase systems, a distinction must be made between symmetrical and asymmetrical inverters. The symmetrical type distributes the power equally across all three phases, which is an advantageous solution for simpler networks. The asymmetrical inverter, on the other hand, can regulate the power differently per phase, thus adapting more flexibly to the real consumption pattern of the house - for this reason it is usually the more practical and efficient choice for domestic systems.
When is it worth choosing a hybrid inverter?
When is it worth choosing a hybrid inverter?
It is worth choosing a hybrid inverter if you want to expand the system with battery energy storage in the future or if you want to provide the house with protection against power outages.
Hybrid models are more expensive, but offer a more flexible solution in the long term, as they can be easily integrated into the existing system later.
What happens in the event of a power outage?
What happens in the event of a power outage?
During a power outage, traditional grid-fed inverters automatically shut down to prevent power from being fed back into the utility grid for safety reasons.
Hybrid inverters, on the other hand, can operate in stand-alone, so-called backup mode, if a battery is also connected to the system. In this case, the inverter disconnects itself from the grid and uses the energy stored in the battery to continue supplying designated consumers in the house, such as lighting, a refrigerator or a router. As soon as the grid voltage returns, the inverter automatically returns to normal operation and begins recharging the battery.
What warranty does the inverter have?
What warranty does the inverter have?
The warranty is typically 5-10 years, depending on the manufacturer and model. Some manufacturers also offer extended warranties with registration. The exact duration is listed on each product page, so it's worth checking before purchasing.
What happens if the inverter fails?
What happens if the inverter fails?
As a first step, it is always recommended to diagnose the fault, because often the problem is not related to the inverter, but to the settings or the communication module.
If there is an actual failure, the distributor or manufacturer's service partner will assist with the repair or replacement process, within or beyond warranty.
