Product description
The Huawei SUN2000-M1 series is the manufacturer's three-phase hybrid inverter family, specifically designed for residential solar systems. The available models are:
- SUN2000-3KTL-M1 – 3kW
- SUN2000-4KTL-M1 – 4kW
- SUN2000-5KTL-M1 – 5kW
- SUN2000-6KTL-M1 – 6kW
- SUN2000-8KTL-M1 – 8kW
- SUN2000-10KTL-M1 – 10kW
The SUN2000-M1 inverters are hybrid in design, meaning they support grid regenerative power and battery connection. They are compatible with Huawei Smart String ESS energy storage system (5-30 kWh) with plug & play connection, so they can be easily expanded with energy storage.
The inverters have two MPP trackers that operate in the range of 140–980 V. This allows for flexible string design and helps to optimize solar arrays with different orientations. The efficiency is outstanding: the maximum value is 98.2–98.6%, and the European efficiency is 96.7–98.1%, depending on the type.
The series supports Huawei optimizers (SUN2000-450W-P2, SUN2000-600W-P), which provide per-panel control and up to 30% more energy production. They can also work without an optimizer, but can be an advantage on shady or complex roofs.
In the event of a power outage, the devices can provide emergency power supply (with a switching time of ≤20 ms) with the BackupBox-B1 accessory. This ensures that the supply to important consumers is not interrupted.
Safety features include AFCI arc fault protection, DC and AC overvoltage protection (Type II), insulation monitoring, and residual current monitoring. Integrated DC and AC phasing and polarity protection further enhance operational safety.
The inverters are cooled by natural convection, have a low noise level (≤29 dB) thanks to their fanless design, are suitable for outdoor use (IP65 protection). Communication can be achieved via WLAN, RS485 or an optional 4G/Ethernet dongle, and monitoring is available via the FusionSolar app.
Main features in brief:
- Power range: 3–10 kW, three-phase hybrid inverters
- Compatible with Huawei Smart String ESS batteries (5-30 kWh)
- 2 MPP trackers, 140–980 V operating range
- Max. efficiency: 98.2–98.6%, European efficiency: 96.7–98.1%
- Optimizer compatibility: SUN2000-450W-P2, 600W-P (up to +30% energy production)
- BackupBox-B1 support for uninterruptible power supply (≤20 ms switchover)
- Safety: AFCI, AC/DC surge protection, insulation monitoring, residual current monitoring
- Natural cooling, ≤29 dB noise level, IP65 protection for outdoor installation
- Communication: WLAN, RS485, optional Ethernet/4G dongle, FusionSolar monitoring
The Huawei SUN2000-M1 series is an ideal choice for homes and small commercial systems where a battery-expandable, safe, and efficient hybrid solution is important.

How do I choose the right inverter?
How do I choose the right inverter?
When choosing an inverter, it is worth considering the power of the solar panels, their voltage range, the number of phases in the system (single- or three-phase), and whether you plan to expand with batteries in the future.
In the case of three-phase systems, a distinction must be made between symmetrical and asymmetrical inverters. The symmetrical type distributes the power equally across all three phases, which is an advantageous solution for simpler networks. The asymmetrical inverter, on the other hand, can regulate the power differently per phase, thus adapting more flexibly to the real consumption pattern of the house - for this reason it is usually the more practical and efficient choice for domestic systems.
When is it worth choosing a hybrid inverter?
When is it worth choosing a hybrid inverter?
It is worth choosing a hybrid inverter if you want to expand the system with battery energy storage in the future or if you want to provide the house with protection against power outages.
Hybrid models are more expensive, but offer a more flexible solution in the long term, as they can be easily integrated into the existing system later.
What happens in the event of a power outage?
What happens in the event of a power outage?
During a power outage, traditional grid-fed inverters automatically shut down to prevent power from being fed back into the utility grid for safety reasons.
Hybrid inverters, on the other hand, can operate in stand-alone, so-called backup mode, if a battery is also connected to the system. In this case, the inverter disconnects itself from the grid and uses the energy stored in the battery to continue supplying designated consumers in the house, such as lighting, a refrigerator or a router. As soon as the grid voltage returns, the inverter automatically returns to normal operation and begins recharging the battery.
What warranty does the inverter have?
What warranty does the inverter have?
The warranty is typically 5-10 years, depending on the manufacturer and model. Some manufacturers also offer extended warranties with registration. The exact duration is listed on each product page, so it's worth checking before purchasing.
What happens if the inverter fails?
What happens if the inverter fails?
As a first step, it is always recommended to diagnose the fault, because often the problem is not related to the inverter, but to the settings or the communication module.
If there is an actual failure, the distributor or manufacturer's service partner will assist with the repair or replacement process, within or beyond warranty.
